April 6, 2006

Three authors are in the running for the world's richest literary prize–the Impac. They are Nadeem Aslam for Maps for Lost Lovers, Ronan Bennett for Havoc–In Its Third Year, and Colm Toibin for The Master, culled from a longlist of ten, which included Jonathan Coe (The Closed Circle), Crhis Abani (Graceland), Christian Grondahl (An Altered Light), Yasmina Khadra (The Swallows of Kabul), Wyvyane Loh Breaking the Tongue), Margaret Mazzantini (Don't Move), and Thomas Wharton (The Logogryph). The 11-year-old, Dublin-based award is granted to novels of any nationality provided that they were translated into English. Impac will announce the winner in July.
