A Poetry Treasure

Get to the Fishouse

I was surfing the Web looking for the poetry of Major Jackson. The New Yorker gave his new book of poetry, Hoops, a great review. His Web site (
www.majorjackson.com) was not working, but I clicked a link to another site: Fishouse. I discovered a site with emerging poets who read their poetry. Matt O'Donnell founded From the Fishouse. He created the site to promote “the oral tradition of poetry…[showcasing] emerging poets (defined for this purpose as one book or fewer at the time of submission) reading their own poems as well as answering question about poetry and the writing process.” The name and spelling come from the writing cabin used by novelist Lawrence Sargent Hall (Stowaway).
